Dustin S. Klein is Executive Editor of the Smart Business Network, publishers of Smart Business magazine. SBN provides presidents, owners and senior decision makers of middle-market companies with news, information and smart ideas for growing their organizations. Its mission is to provide the knowledge and tools that aid in the development of stronger businesses.

Mr. Klein joined SBN in 1997 as a reporter and was promoted to editor of the Cleveland publication in 1999. In 2001, he added the responsibilities of Editor of SBN Online. In 2002, he was named Executive Editor of the corporate entity, Smart Business Network.

In his capacity as Executive Editor, Mr. Klein is responsible for developing and implementing the company's editorial vision, guidelines and procedures. He directs publication of Smart Business magazine in 10 cities, manages editors, reporters and support staff in those markets, oversees the daily Web edition of SBN Online, and manages the content of the company's business conferences and awards programs.

A 1991 graduate of Kent State University's prestigious journalism program, Mr. Klein has received multiple awards for his business writing, column writing and editing achievements. He has been honored for journalistic excellence by organizations such as the Society for Professional Journalists and Ohio Press Club. Most recently, Smart Business received top honors as Best Business Publication in Ohio for 2003.

Mr. Klein's previous experience includes reporting and editing stints at the Akron Beacon Journal, Medina Gazette and Lorain Morning Journal. His work has been published in magazines in France, Germany, the Ukraine and Russia. Mr. Klein is also the former owner and founder of Pyramyd Air, an importer and distributor of fine European and Asian air-powered rifles. He launched that firm in 1996 and sold it in 1998. Mr. Klein also co-founded eSports Media Group in 2000 after engineering the asset purchase of a failed dot-com venture and redeveloping its business model. He sold his interest in EMG in 2003.

A published author and poet, Mr. Klein is also a frequent speaker on business-related issues and how to effectively work with the media. He currently serves on the boards of the Press Club of Cleveland, the Entrepreneurship Institute Northeast Ohio chapter, Friendly Inn Settlement, the Center for Employment Training and Friends of Shaker Towne Centre. Mr. Klein is a lifelong resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he and his wife, Laura, are active in the community.
