Dick Russ joined WKYC-TV3, Gannett's NBC affiliate in Cleveland, OH as general assignment reporter of "Segment 3" for the 6 PM news in November, 1999. In March, 2000, he added co-anchoring of Channel 3 News at noon to his duties.
Russ comes to WKYC from WJW-TV where he served as anchor/reporter for over 20 years. He has also produced and reported numerous special series and programs capturing the heart and relevance of life in Northeast Ohio.
Dick has earned a national Gabriel Award for "We the Faithful" which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Cleveland. In addition, he has earned a local Emmy for his anchoring.
Dick is a member of the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, recognizing more than 25 years of service to the television industry. Twice he has been honored by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists and with an "Ohio Public Images" award. Dick has won dozens of local and national awards including several "Best in Ohio" awards from the Associated Press and United Press International.
Dick has also earned a National Wilbur Award for religious reporting, and the National Silver Communicator Award and Videographer Award of Excellence for television reporting on religious issues.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications. Dick resides in the Cleveland area with his wife Chris, and their sons Andrij, Stefan and Peter.
