Martha Brooks is Chief Operating Officer for Novelis Inc., an $8bn spin off from Alcan Inc. Novelis is the global leader in aluminum rolled products and aluminum can recycling, with 36 operating facilities in 11 countries and more than 13,000 employees. Prior to the Novelis spin-off in January 2005, Ms. Brooks was President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcan's Rolled Products Americas and Asia business group since joining the company in August 2002. Prior to joining Alcan, Ms. Brooks was a Vice President of Cummins Inc., holding a variety of global general management, strategy, marketing and sales roles. Early in her career, Ms. Brooks taught in China for two years and worked in Europe for six years. Ms. Brooks is a Director of International Paper Company, an Executive Committee Member of ManufacturersâTM Alliance (MAPI), and a Trustee of the Hathaway Brown School, the Cleveland Opera and Keep America Beautiful. Ms. Brooks holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and a Masters of Public and Private Management specializing in international business from Yale University.
