David J. Janus was named President and CEO of FirstMerit Cleveland area office in May 2004. Mr. Janus has more then 25 years of commercial banking experience during which time he has managed small business, middle market and large corporate lending units. Most recently, he led commercial lending for KeyBank's largest middle market banking region. Additionally, he has been a credit executive and a sales manager for a bank-based investment management firm.
Mr. Janus is deeply committed to the Greater Cleveland area and its economic development. As an area banker, he has been an advocate for the City through his support of locally-owned businesses. Mr. Janus believes these businesses are the bedrock of Cleveland and FirstMerit has a dedicated focus upon them, their owners and their employees.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He and his family reside in Solon, Ohio.
