Item Description
Own a rare piece of Cleveland Heights history!
Bid on this original Pinkerton's National Detective Agency broadside, published on August 9th, 1910, offering a $10,000 reward for "information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer or murderers of William L. Rice".
William Lowe Rice, a lawyer who co-founded the parent company of the Jones-Day law firm, Cleveland socialite, and investor/manager of the original Euclid Heights allotment of Cleveland Heights, met his end on August 5, 1910 when he was shot, stabbed, and bludgeoned to death at the top of Cedar Hill near his home.
Still unsolved, the Rice murder remains today an intriguing mystery and was immortalized in John Stark Bellamy's book "They Died Crawling--And Other Tales of Woe".
