Item Description

Jack's Firehouse has been one of Philadelphia's premier destinations for superb American regional cuisine and pleasant dining for over 13 years. The restaurant features one of the city's most inviting and unique settings. Built in the 1860s, Jack's Firehouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a Philadelphia landmark. The original interior paneling and brass fireman's pole are still intact. The restaurant is located in a vast, three story red brick building, complete with stone quoins and a large center double door, that was originally a fire station. A 52' racing scull with oars, reminiscent of Philadelphia's famous rowing tradition, is suspended from the ceiling above a 48-seat mahogany bar. The restaurant also features a changing show of Philadelphia artists with works in various media, including oil, pastel, etching, silk screen, lithography, photography, and sculpture. In keeping with the All-American theme, Rock-A-Billy musicians perform on a regular basis, along with other live music such as country, blues, and jazz. The menu features a superb selection of American regional cuisine, and highlights local products, including fish, meat, produce, and mushrooms. The restaurant also features an extensive selection of rare whiskeys and bourbons. An 18-bottle crivinet dispenses a selection of local, domestic, and imported wines by the glass. Owner Jack McDavid (owner of the Down Home Diner and host of the TV Food Network's "Grillin' and Chillin'") and the rest of the staff at Jack's Firehouse look forward to seeing you soon.
