Item Description
Enjoy a private tour and tea for a group of up to 20 people at the elegant Laguna Gloria, and relax at a Friday night stay for two at the luxurious Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas.
As the original home of the Austin Museum of Art, Laguna Gloria is a monument to AMOA's long-standing commitment to the community--offering a unique experience of history, art, and nature. Named an official Austin Landmark and a Texas Historical Landmark, this historic site was listed on the National Register for Historic Places (1975) and designated an Official Project of Save America's Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation (2000). In 2001 it was awarded a $320,000 federal Save America's Treasures grant. Tour the recently restored 1916 Italianate-style villa that was the home of Texas legend Clara Driscoll, view intimate art exhibitions and stroll the lush 12-acre grounds overlooking Lake Austin that feature sculptures and revitalized historic gardens.
Built in 1886 as the showplace of a cattle baron, the luxurious Driskill Hotel sits in the heart of downtown Austin. It's lobby sets the initial tone of comfort and elegance with three-story columns framing a marble floor and stained-glass dome ceiling. Guests rooms feature soaring ceilings, elaborate woodwork and balconies. The Traditional Wing, built in 1929, features art deco styling and the colors of the Texas Hill Country.
