Item Description
This package celebrates the 50th anniversary of Decatur House as a historic site of the National Trust. Decatur House, a site of the National Trust since 1956, was the first and last private residence on Lafayette Square, the neighborhood of the president. Following the 1818 construction of Decatur House, Jackson Place was one of the capital's most desirable addresses throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Though by the 1960s many of its grand residences were lost, the historic character of Jackson Place was preserved through the efforts of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, architect John Carl Warnecke, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which oversaw the construction of office buildings reminiscent of the historic rowhouses. Decatur House celebrates this Trust anniversary with a year of special programs and exhibitions, including our highly-successful Jazz on Jackson Place evening programs of music and merriment in our beautiful courtyard.
This package includes:
~ A signed 10" x 18" color print of a watercolor by Washington, D.C. artist Mary Belcher ($34)
~ A private walking tour of Lafayette Square for up to ten (10) ($100 value)
~ Ten (10) tickets to Jazz on Jackson Place, held the first Thursday evening of each month, April -- September ($150 value)
Help celebrate this 50th anniversary!
