Item Description

A stunning large color original print photograph of the Museum at the Immigration Station of Angel Island off San Francisco, CA which was on the National Trust's 11 Most Endangered Places List for 1999, and was subsequently saved. As a major port of entry for immigrants from the Pacific Rim and parts of South America, the Angel Island Immigration Station is sometimes called "the Ellis Island of the West Coast." An estimated 250,000 Chinese and 150,000 Japanese, along with thousands of immigrants from other nations, passed through the station from 1910 to 1940.
Photographer Shelley Zatsky is doing a photographic series of the 11 Most Endangered Places. She photographs sites that are renovated, in state of disrepair or, unfortunately, no longer standing. Shelley Zatsky's plans are to produce her series of photographs into a book. Her artistic photographs of these neglected sites bring to life their inner beauty and help to remind us of their historic significance.
What a great gift this would be! Imagine this photograph displayed on a large wall in a home, school or office.
