Item Description
A Tim Wakefield Boston Red Sox authentic home jersey, signed by the pitcher. This quick drying jersey is made of resilient polyester for a comfortable feel on and off the field. The jersey is decorated in the team colors with a button-front design, and displays the tackle twill team name across the chest and Wakefield's number 49 on the back.
A right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who has played with the Boston Red Sox since 1995, Wakefield throws a specialty pitch, the knuckleball. Over his long and solid career with the Red Sox, he has helped them win a division title, as well as winning player awards and recognitions. His career high has to be when he helped the Boston Red Sox achieve their historic 2004 World Series win. His longevity and consistency have helped him quietly become one of the top pitchers in Red Sox history. Currently the longest-serving member of the Boston team, in 2005 Wakefield agreed to a $4 million, one-year contract extension through 2006 that gives the Red Sox the ability to keep their longest-tenured player for the rest of his career.
