Item Special Note
I call the piece "Broken Flowers" and consider it to be a political statement against incarceration. Simply because the flowers are broken, it doesn't mean that they are any less beautiful than other flowers. Also, their broken condition doesn't prevent them from being functional-afterall, aren't they in an art show??? Nor does it stop them from being admired by others! Prisoners are similar to broken flowers. Each of us have positive attributes and have someone who actually "looks up" to us, be it family members or friends. Most of the beauty that resides in each and every one of us is hidden. Art shows allow artistically inclined prisoners to demonstrate their talents and express themselves. For those who lack talent of the artistic nature there usually is no way for their beauty and usefulness to be seen by others. Thus, as with broken flowers....they will just wilt away with time!
