The active ingredient in Bahama Body, is a sugar molecule, extracted from sugarcane, called dihydroxyacetone or DHA. Over thirty years ago, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved DHA for cosmetic applications. DHA reacts harmlessly with the amino acids in the epidermal cells (the outer most layers of the skin). This reaction, the tan, looks and feels natural. The other ingredients in the Bahama Body solution are inert, harmless, and non-allergenic. Your skin is prepped with the Bahama Body spritzer to remove daily containments. Then, Bahama Body solution is professionally airbrushed onto your skin. This personalized application can take from three to five minutes. Drying takes three to five minutes. The Bahama Body tan is different for everyone. It can last up to 11 days, depending on your skin type and daily maintenance. Extended periods in water should be avoided and will cause your tan to be short-lived. Tips Shower and exfoliate your skin prior to your tanning session. Wear loose-fitting clothes after your tanning session. Tight-fitting clothes tend to shorten the life of the tan. Avoid strenuous activities for eight hours after your session. Perspiring may adversely affect tanning results causing your skin to turn yellow. Once the tan sets, you need not be concerned. Avoid immersion in water for one day. This allows the tan to develop to the fullest possible extent. For best results, do not bathe or shower until eight hours after your session. If you wear a garment during the tanning session, you will have tan lines. The garment should be washed the same day. DHA reacts with wool, leather, and silk when wet. Do not wear garments containing these textiles during or immediately after your tanning session. The best way to maintain your tan is to keep your skin moisturized. After bathing or showering blot skin dry and moisturize. This will extend the life of your tan.
