I am a Jamaican by birth, with a mother who is a full blooded African with a strong belief in her heritage and roots. It was important to my mother that her kids learn more about their heritage so when we passed the age of 7, our mother took us to her home village in Africa, so we could meet our extended family members. When I was old enough to become a warrior in her tribe (and did become one) I would go hunting with the men of our village and it was during one of these hunts that we came upon a lone bull elephant (portrayed in my picture). He was the biggest and most majestic animal I had ever laid eyes on. The memory and size of this animal and his majesty stayed burned in my thoughts to this day. My humble rendition of this magnificent animal truly does not do justice to what I saw up front and personal.
