Item Description

STEAMSHIP Lithographic Poster Hand Signed by John Kelly

John Kelly is widely considered to be the greatest living maritime painter in the world. Kelly studied under and collaborated with Lynton Kisteler to produce significant works that now reside in the Smithsonian Museum. Influenced by the rich tapestry of his life experiences and world travels, Kelly’s body of work is uniquely impressive in its far-reaching international scope. He was presented with the coat of arms of Glasgow, Scotland for his work, “Britain Revisited”, and was selected as one the top 100 artists in America by American Artist magazine.

John Kelly, with his distinctive style of painting is an image maker, who with brush and pallette, pencil or pastel, creates pictures that make one spin off in dreams. He is a man filled with local color...absorbed with the rich background which gave him the soul to follow his dreams...dreams which were infused with the spirit of the sea and its elements.
