Item Description

Newspaper Reporter/Editor for a Day - Daily Republic.

What a great opportunity for an aspiring writer! For you or for your Special Someone.

  • You'll report directly to the Daily Republic Publisher and Editor, Bill James.
  • You'll receive a tour of the Newspaper, all of its departments.
  • Then Mr. James will assign you to "shadow" one of the reporters on staff.
  • You will watch and learn as they cover and write the stories that will be tomorrows headlines.
  • Take notes about your adventure.
  • You will write a story about your day as a Newspaper reporter/editor.
  • You will turn it in to the Managing Editor, Pat Butler, or to the Publisher, Bill James, by the end of your "day".
  • It will be edited for possible inclusion in the paper as time and the "news of the day" permits. In any case you'll get an edited copy to keep.
  • Maybe you'll even get your picture in the paper as Solano Community College Foundation auction winner and aspiring news reporter.
  • You will sit in on the editorial staff meeting as they select the stories for print and decide tomorrows headlines. You'll listen and discover how news is "made".
  • Trust us! The folks at the Daily Republic are among the finest people you'll ever meet. And Publisher Bill James might even invite you to one of his Rock and Roll music gigs that he donates to some of Solano County's Charities.
You'll have the time of your life as you meet the people who write the news for Fairfield and Solano County. It's an adventure you won't want to miss and you will never forget.

Item Special Note

The auction winner will need to contact the Publisher's office to schedule the "day". It will be at a mutually convenient time.

Please note the activities and outcomes are dependent upon the news of the day and are at the sole discretion of the Publisher, Bill James.
