Item Special Note
The piece is titled "Each One Teach One" and it was done in graphite in 2005. It is a picture of jazz bassist Reggie Workman teaching his daughter Aisha to play the stand up bass. When I saw the photo I was touched by it and I immediately thought of the need in the black community for parents to pass on what they know to their children. As a father of a 15 year-old young man I do my best to impart my knowledge of life to him. My hope is that he can avoid the mistakes I've made in life. And that's doubly important to me because I see the young black men wasting away in here every day.
