Item Description
Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will return to North Hero, Vermont with a fabulous performance of equine grace and beauty at the Islands Center for Arts and Recreation in Knight Point State Park, right on Lake Champlain. This will be the 15th summer of Lipizzan performances, at a new outdoor arena tucked into a beautiful nature preserve, with sandy beaches, walking trails and access to a dozen stallions, all bearing the Hapsburg brand.
The story of the Lipizzans goes back four centuries to the Hapsburg Royal Family. The horses were bred to make the spectacular leaps and jumps meant to inspire terror in the hearts of foot soldiers during the Thirty Years War. Colonel Ottomar Herrmann brought the horses to the United States, after General George Patton liberated them from the Nazis after World War II.
The Herrmanns maintain a ranch in Florida, and spend each July and August in North Hero. The horse barn is open to visitors daily. Performances are held every Thursday at 5 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., from July 13 to August 27. The winner of this item receives four tickets to a performance of his choice.
