Item Description
4" x 4" approx 5" deep Raku pot by artist Zabel Belian. Raku is a low temperature firing technique which comes from a 400 year old tradition of producing ware for the Japanese tea ceremony. The many intense and brillant colors are derived from the various metallic oxides used in raku glazes. Because the clay body remains porous and somewhat fragile, raku ware is considered decorative only, and should be handles with care. Neither water nor food should be placed in raku vessels.
