Item Description
LIFESTYLE, WA- Washington's Chateau Ste. Michelle and Italy's famed winemaker, Piero Antinori collaborated to produce Col Solare, with the goal of making Washington's best Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines. The wine was first introduced with the 1995 vintage, having been made by a team of Marcus Notaro, of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Renzo Cotarella, of Antinori. Their mission is to join two distinct cultures, Washington and Tuscan, new world and old world, to create an elegant and powerful wine. This year, the partners celebrated the grand opening of their newly constructed, state-of-the-art winery on Red Mountain. Their 30-acre estate vineyard is planted with six clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
The bidder and three guests are invited for a special tour of this spectacular new winery and a tasting of the exceptional wines. Included in this lot is a 5L bottle of 2002 Col Solare Red Blend. The wine is a meritage of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Syrah, with concentrated black raspberry, black pepper and spice, layered with dark chocolate, roasted nuts hinting of vanilla and cedar, leading to a seductive, lingering finish. The wine, rated 94 by Robert Parker, is presented in a limited edition, etched and signed bottle.
