Item Description
WINE- Share the passioned focus of winemakers, Gray Hartley and Frank Ostini. Buy these two exceptional Pinot Noirs from Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Winery, made by Buellton Hitching Post owner/chef Frank Ostini and his good friend, former fisherman Gray Hartley. From making wine at home in 1979, their production has grown to nearly 5,000 cases. Their top-of-the-line bottling is the Highliner Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County which reflects Hartley's fishing background. Highliner is one of the best fishermen in the fleet and the name honors the great men of the Alaskan Salmon Fishery alongside whom Gray Hartley worked for 28 years. The 2005 Highliner is rich and full, with intense dark fruit, pepper, spice and earth, a really flavorful wine. The 2005 Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir in the Santa Rita Hills is rich and full-bodied, tightly wound and barely showing its deep, dark fruit and earthiness, promising a very complex future.
