WINE- Duckhorn's unwavering commitment to quality is evident in their collection of small winery estates focused on site-specific wines of distinction from Napa and Anderson Valleys. Duckhorn Vineyards, which specializes in hearty, rich and tannic red wines, was founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in St. Helena. Duckhorn spent a quarter century establishing itself as one of North America's premier producers of Bordeaux varietal wines. In 1990, they embraced their growing passion for Pinot Noir and established Goldeneye in the Anderson Valley, producing their first vintage in 1997. Their vision was simple: to craft a distinctively California Pinot Noir of equal stature to their acclaimed Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot. In 1994, Paraduxx sourced 100-year-old vines of Zinfandel, which they blended with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah for a unique Napa Valley Red Wine in the tradition of the world's great blends, but giving the wine a distinctly Californian personality.

The 2005 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot is medium-bodied, offering a smooth entry, integrated soft tannins and a long finish. Lofty aromas of raspberry, red currant, blueberry, cherry cola, and delicate spice lead to polished flavors of blackberry, plum, black cherry, toast and a hint of herb. Given 92 points by The Wine News, the 2004 Paraduxx Napa Valley Red Wine is concentrated, complex and velvety, showing intense cherry, raspberry, blackberry, currant and toasty oak, nuanced with vanilla, spice and pepper. The 2004 Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is full-bodied, supple, elegant and well-balanced, exhibiting blueberry, plum, blackberry, a medley of spices, leaf tobacco, mushroom, forest floor and leather. This wine merited 91 points from both The Wine News and Wine Spectator and four stars from Decanter.
