LIFESTYLE, CA- Four guests will enjoy a private tour of Marimar Estate vineyards and winery and tasting of the Estate's wines from casks and in bottle. Established by the Torres family in 1989, Marimar Torres has been producing exceptional estate-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the organic Don Miguel Vineyard named after Marimar's father, the late patriarch of Spain's Torres Family Vineyards. Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, the Russian River/Green Valley appellation is a perfect microclimate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles north of San Francisco, the site is influenced by the sea's cooling breezes and drifting fog. The beautiful winery, decorated in the style of a Catalan farmhouse, sits on a hill surrounded by wines. The Chardonnays, beautifully crafted, ripe, rich, smooth and polished, with intense fruit flavors and lots of oak, receive scores in the 90s, as do the Pinot Noirs, with their herb and cherry-laced fruit, nuanced with oak. The 2005 Don Miguel Chardonnay is a fragrant mixture of tropical pineapple, tapioca pudding, gardenia, honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, spice and hazelnut, with toasty oak. It has a creamy mouthfeel, bright, crisp acidity and a long, elegant finish. Take home a 3L handpainted bottle of Marimar's Estate Chardonnay from the Don Miguel Vineyard and autographed copies of her two, popular and highly acclaimed cookbooks: The Catalan Country Kitchen: Food and Wine from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean Seacoast of Barcelona and The Spanish Table: The Cuisines and Wines of Spain.
