Item Description
WINE- Marinus, the handcrafted flagship wine of Bernardus Winery in Carmel Valley is a traditional Bordeaux blend that owner, Ben Pon, envisions being equal to the finest from Bordeaux. Different planting and growing strategies are used with each block of the Marinus Vineyard, which is planted with Bordeaux varietals that are harvested block by block and varietal by varietal. Blending multiple lots from different vineyard blocks enhances flavor, texture, complexity and balance. The 2002 Marinus, 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, with the balance being Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, is a spectacular wine, especially in an Imperial size bottle, offering rich, focused currant and berry fruit, laced with cedar, leather and spice.
-One 6L bottle of Bernardus Winery 2002 Marinus Proprietary Red Blend Carmel Valley
The Chardonnay, harvested from 10 distinct vineyards in 2005, is a lush, opulent wine, offering bright citrus, tropical fruit, ripe pineapple, mineral, toasty oak and crème brulée, ending in a long, creamy finish. Bernardus is committed to cultivating Chardonnay in cool coastal climates, specifically the Monterey County growing region. Grapes from other superior coastal appellations in California, such as the Sonoma-Carneros region, are used to add nuances to the blend. The vineyard components are complemented by many different yeasts and oaks during the winemaking procedure. This 2005 Chardonnay, a lovely and delicious wine, is beautifully presented in a 5L bottle. The wine scored 90 points from Robert Parker, calling it dry and crisp in citrusy acids, with complex flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, kiwi, lime and spicy coconut macaroon.
