Item Description

Nearing the end of a bloody war between Thebes and Argos, Antigone laments of the death of both her brothers in battle. One brother, killed for deserting, lies to rot out in the open, denied -by edict of the powerful Kreon- the honor of a burial. Antigone hazards her own life, against the wishes of both law and family, to give her brother his last respects, and in doing so, causes everyone around her to question the infallibility of government.

Raine Bode returns to direct at Baltimore Shakespeare Festival after her acclaimed production of Desdemona, A Play About a Handkerchief. New York directing credits include: The Stanley Milgram Experiment at NADA 45 and at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, The Bitterness of the Meringue by Jorge Kuri, and Bow Down by Joe Brady.  In addition, Ms. Bode is a member of the Great Jones Repertory Company with whom she has performed in New York, toured Europe and Asia with the productions of Ellen Stewart, Elizabeth Swados and Andrei Serban. Other recent projects include: The Return of the 5th Sister, by Kimberley Lynne, which premiered at Hood College and at the inaugural Capital Fringe Festival in 2006. Ms. Bode is a proud member of AEA, the Production Manager at Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, and a graduate of Towson State University.
