This property sits atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific but is separated from the shore by a busy Ocean Avenue and a precipitous drop of some 200 feet. This remains a viable grande dame from the Roaring Twenties, queen of Santa Monica hotels. Guests arrive through ornate wrought-iron gates and enter the highly polished lobby, where the inlaid marble floors and extravagant floral displays make an elegant introduction to the reception area beyond. The adjacent rattan-furnished lounge and the delightful veranda provide relaxing spots to watch the comings and goings. Outside, the sprawling six-story main building, poolside bungalows and 10-story tower are surrounded by lush gardens spangled with huge trees. The pool area is small for a hotel of this size, but it is invitingly furnished and was actually moved 15 feet during remodeling to gain sun worshipers more basking time. A koi pond, waterfalls and rock walls conceal the sundeck, and more than 100 trees -- including a century-old Moreton Bay fig -- adorn the grounds. An oversized whirlpool, his-and-hers saunas, and steam rooms relax guests. The gym with its workout stations, treadmills and exercise bikes is part of the compact spa facility. Quality runs deep here, and the hotel refuses to nickel-and-dime clients, assessing no charges while most other hotels here gouge for gym use or calling 800-numbers. Your stay includes daily breakfast for (2) in the dining room. These certificates can be redeemed with no blackout dates and will be accepted on any date that there is any availability for the room type purchased including holidays. The certificates will be valid one year from event date.

This package includes round-trip coach class service for two from any American Airlines destination in the 48 contiguous United States to anywhere American Airlines flies in the 48 contiguous United States subject to availability. The winning bidders can upgrade their coach class airfare to first class for $750 per person subject to availability. Note: On three class flights upgrade is to business class. A minimum of 14 days advance booking is required as is a Saturday night stay. The winning bidders will be able to earn AAdvantage miles in accordance with the terms and conditions of the AAdvantage frequent flyer program. Miles cannot be utilized to upgrade these coach class certificates to a higher level of service. The certificates will have a one-year expiration date from the date issued and all reservations are subject to availability.

Any airport departure or taxes (if charged) are the responsibility of the winning bidder. Ground transportation is not included in this package.
