Item Description

 “Annisquam Bridge” by RAA member Dale Blank, was taken during a winter storm. This landmark pedestrian bridge is cast in a moody light.

This custom photograph is an Epsilon print from a color negative; print #1/100. The image size measures 15"x10" and features specially cut double mats. The overall frame measures 25"WX20"H and comes ready to hang!

Dale Blank, a Massachusetts native, studied physics and biology at Brandeis University. Her photography reflects her interest in natural patterns, symmetry and reflections. Tightly-framed compositions are a trademark of her work. Earlier photographs in her portfolio were taken with a 35mm Nikon F100 SLR camera, custom printed (Epsilon print on Kodak Endura or Fujicolor Crystal Archive photographic paper) and matted with archival-quality materials. More recently, Dale has moved to a Nikon DSLR camera, printing on Epson Professional papers.

 Though largely self-taught, photography classes and course work at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston inform her work. Moon rises, fireworks, and street scenes painted with light are favorite subjects. Dale was accepted as a photography member of the Rockport Art Association in 2004 and she regularly participates in shows there. She is also a member of the Newburyport Art Association, where her work entitled “For the Birds” was awarded the Mary Alice Arakelian Award for Best of Show in the 2006 Members Winter Juried Show II.

Her work has also been shown in juried shows and exhibitions at the Marblehead Art Association, the Topsfield Fair, the Magnolia Library Center Artists Festival, the Thacher Island Association Art Show, the Annisquam Art Gallery and the Rocky Neck Art Association 2007 National Juried Show, “Weather”. A solo show inspired by Cape Ann light and views, “Over the Bridge” was held in April 2007.  She and Judith Monteferrante collaborated in “Rainbow,” a 2007 show at the Rockport Art Association.  Dale’s work has appeared in the Massachusetts Municipal Association calendar (2005, 2006, and 2007) and the Cape Ann Map & Visitors Guide (2005, 2006). She is the owner of Photography by Dale Blank in Gloucester, where she now makes her home.
