Item Description
"Provincetown MA" is a Nikon SLR digital image reproduced onto Hahnemuhle photo rag paper (308 grams) using Ultrachrome K3 inks in an Epson 7800 injet printer. The photo measures 9 1/2" x 4 1/2", is matted, and 11" x 14" framed. This image, made during the summer of 2007, shows Long Point Light and the schooner "Hindu" returning to harbor in the moments before sunset.
Joe Scamardella (exhibiting member of the Rockport Art Association) is native to Massachusetts and has been creating landscape digital imagery of Cape Ann and Cape Cod for the past two years. He began his photographic journey twenty years ago with film imagery, and along the way interpreted his vision with watercolor, pastel, and digital paintings.
Joe also pursued graduate level work in evolutionary microbiology with the internationally recognized evolutionary biologist Lynn Margulis, as well as writing and publishing articles in the history of microbial classification.
Regarding his digital imagery, Joe states:
"Capturing the spirit and emotion of inspiration can be perceived as timelessness in a work of art, and it is this essence that may give it form and shape. Photography is not just a snapshot in time although pressing the shutter is just that quick. My aim is to interpret my surroundings in a way that hopefully inspires others to create their own visions of the world".
