Item Description

Boosey & Hawkes 400 Alto Saxophone with lined case and stand.
The Boosey & Hawkes 400 Alto Saxophone is a fine instrument, complete outfit.  Purchased new in 1996 for $1,565.00. Current market price $515.00. Would suit any learner or group looking to add the Sax to their band.

There are four basic sizes/types of saxophones (not including also sopranino and bass):

Bb Soprano.

Eb Alto - despite being bigger than the soprano it's often the 'lead' instrument in many ensembles, so if you're a blushing violet don't go for an alto. Often associated with that colossus of the jazz world, Charlie Parker, the alto has also led a parallel existence as a classical solo instrument, especially amongst French and American composers. It's equally at home as a band instrument too, be it wind band, big band, or a garage band looking for a great new sound.

Bb Tenor.

Eb Baritone.

I’m thinking that at the price this will go for it would make a fantastic room accent/conversation piece (even if you don’t play).  Can’t you see this displayed/mounted in your home?  The Sax will remind you of the flappers and beatniks (pre hippy era), and reflect you as a little bohemian with a lot of class. If you don’t play no problem, if asked about it, you can think of all sorts of replies, e.g. well I learned not to drink/slur when asked what I want for my birthday (pardon the indiscretion – sleep deprivation will do this to me).  I still think it would look very cool displayed in your home.

This makes a very unique gift.  Can’t you see the look on you husband’s face when he opens it – priceless (one of those lost in space looks – until you explain “I thought that’s what you said you wanted”).

If you play or want to play what better opportunity to pick up a classic instrument at an unbeatable price!
