ANGELA TSAI BIOGRAPHY
Angela Tsai's journey as on-air talent for the NBA has been nothing short of amazing.
Currently, she commands provocative, insightful interviews as the Sacramento Kings’ resident courtside reporter and multimedia host (web, live events, and radio broadcasts). The diverse fans of Sacramento not only stay connected to their hometown NBA team through her dynamic reporting, but have grown even more passionate and loyal to their Kings as a result of her energetic, personalized work.
For the past two seasons, Tsai’s episodes of “NBA Timeout” for AZN Television took viewers on an exclusive behind-the-scenes ride with some of the game's greatest stars. As host, she managed to disarm even the most fastidious guests with her no-holds-barred, lighthearted style as well as her intelligent, comprehensive approach to talking about basketball for fans young and old.
Behind the desk, Tsai anchored the latest news from around the league with NBA TV News, as well as the half-hour News In Review. She also serves as a correspondent for feature stories for the NBA, and has produced several of her own pieces.
You will likely find Tsai in the middle of some of the most lively interviews with the league's most famous figures. From NBA Legends Clyde Drexler, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing, George Gervin, Bob Lanier, Bill Walton, Scottie Pippen and Robert Parish, to current stars Tony Parker, Tracy MacGrady, Paul Pierce, Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur, Baron Davis, Nate Robinson, Tim Thomas, Jason Richardson, Chris Kaman, Monta Ellis, Samuel Dalembert, Damon Jones, Udonis Haslem and Matt Barnes, she has left no stone unturned. She has even become a favorite of a couple of the NBA's most notorious owners — Dallas' Mark Cuban and Sacramento's Joe and Gavin Maloof.
As a writer, Tsai has worked for a multitude of media organizations, including CBS News, the Asian American Journalists Association, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. During her tenure at Duke University, she was awarded numerous accolades and grants for her documentary writing and photography on Asian communities in Durham, North Carolina, and Chinatown in San Francisco. She was a finalist for the competitive CBS Writers Mentorship program, awarded to writers with extreme promise in television writing.
Last but certainly not least, Tsai once captained the Duke cheerleading squad, where she first cultivated her love of basketball culture. Passionate about the arts and good food, she resides in both northern California and New York City. Her husband, actor Michael Hollick, stars in the acclaimed off-Broadway show Fuerzabruta.
