Item Description

At a dinner party, guest of honor Dr. Goodall was admiring a painting by artist Joan Solomon and expressed a personal connection to the work.

She spoke of a favorite place in Gombe, Tanzania -- a lush ravine and waterfall, where she had spent many hours observing her beloved chimps stand and rock, sometimes tossing stones in the water as a gesture of offering, signifying what primatologists believe may be a form of religious awe.

Dr. Goodall considers the ravine to be a sacred place. At the dinner party she recounted how nature spirits revealed themselves to her in the foliage, the water and the rocks. She was curious whether Joan Solomon, far away in America, would see them too if presented with an image of the falls.

Joan Solomon was delighted to take on the challenge and created the "Spirit of Gombe", a beautiful, spiritual painting of Dr. Goodall at the falls in Gombe, Tanzania.

You are bidding on a limited-edition, 35"x18.5" print of the Spirit of Gombe signed by the artist and by Jane Goodall.

A unique bonus is a decorative vial containing water from Jane's special waterfall in Tanzania!
