David D’Agostino taught fine art and design at the American University in Cairo and was one of the founding artists maintaining a studio at Townhouse Gallery. He was the first American artist to exhibit solo at the Gezira Art Center in Cairo and the Contemporary Art Institute in Sofia, Bulgaria. His installations evoke the coercive and contested territory of culturally specific architecture and human identity. His paintings suggest landscape imagery floating in ephemeral space devoid of territorial boundaries.
