Item Description
Clay artist, Marsha Van Vlack offers a decorative tile. The beautiful purple iris is painted in exquisite detail, reflecting the artist's inspiration from the outdoors. This piece, like all the pieces that come from her studio, are created by her. She orders the clay, mixes the glazes, paints, and fires each piece herself. Each tile is dipped into a glaze, then painted using stains and oxides mixed with water. Then the tiles are placed in a kiln and fired to stoneware temperature. During the firing, the glaze becomes molten, and the colors fuse with the glaze to the clay. Her work with clay has spanned 30 years, including pottery, non functional sculpture, home installations, public exterior murals and decorative tiles. This iris tile measures 8 inches by 16 inches and is ready to hang. Bid high for a unique and beautiful piece of art!
