Item Description
A friend of WXXI offers a seriolithograph, ''D'or et de Reve,' by Emile Bellet. The artist has captured a serene moment at the break of day as a beautiful woman welcomes the sun's golden light. Bellet, a native of Provence, France, has aligned himself with the school of artists who lived at the turn of the twentieth century, which included Matisse and Cezanne. They painted in vivid color, and Emile Bellet has mastered this discipline with an impasto knife, accentuating the color with the elongated forms of his subjects. The familiar female figure used throughout his work is symbolic of his impression of femininity. She represents all women, and for this reason has no facial expression. She is timeless and ageless, and universal. Bid high for this timeless image! The image itself measures 29 inches by 24 inches. The overall unframed print measures 32 inches by 27 inches. It is signed in the plate. A Certificate of Authenticity and an Appraisal from Park West Gallery are included.
