Item Description
A friend of WXXI offers a limited edition lithograph, 'Sweet Dreams,' by Alberto Vargas. Vargas, the most famous and prolific glamour artist of all time, became famous in the 1940s as the creator of iconic World War II era pin-ups for Esquire magazine known as 'Varga Girls.' 'Sweet Dreams' was the second painting Alberto created for Esquire magazine and appeared as the gatefold in the November 1940 issue. This image is a superb example of Alberto's masterful watercolor technique and meticulous attention to detail. As one gazes into the alluring bedroom eyes of this beautiful young woman, the viewer is struck by her sensuality, tenderness, and tranquillity. Her soft skin is delicately caressed by a revealing blue negligee. This magnificent print, created in 19-color offset lithography is numbered, matted, and framed in an golden carved frame. The frame measures 33 ? inches by 46 ? inches. The trademark protected signature is silkscreened on the print. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
