Item Description
Sharon Wenzel said her artwork has always been influenced by folk art because of its direct connection with people through individual craftsmen. Her mask uses fanciful pre-Columbian figures and designs to create a face in oranges, golds, greens and browns. Wenzel said she arranged the universal symbols into a language of whimsey, including the extended red tongue and clownesque blue lips.
