Item Description
Stevon Lucero has produced more than 1,500 works of art, displayed in both public and private collections worldwide, during more than 40 years of painting. More than 58 of his paintings were featured at Denver's Museo de las Americas in 1996 and in 1992 he painted the "Tlateco Market" diorama for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. In this mask (titled "Tezcatlipoca") Lucero writes "smoking mirror is the symbol of memory. Associated with the night, Tezcatlipoca reflects our search for self in the land of darkness where we dream." The mask features a face decorated with bands that show the universe and the planets.
