Item Description
Aspen artist Sue Brinkley Tatem was a biology professor at Temple University for 22 years before coming back to the mountains in 1995 and settling on the Maroon Bells in Aspen as her favorite art subject. Her mask, "Maroon Bells on a Starry Night," is painted with the gusto of Van Gogh and if you take a closer look, you’ll see Mother Nature smiling. A splash of spruce trees, a crescent moon and a spatter of snowflakes give the mask a Colorado garnish. Sue's work has shown in Grand Junction, Denver, Boulder and Aspen. Her paintings are on permanent display in Alpine Women’s Care in Glenwood Springs. She resides mainly in Aspen but lives and paints in Lahaina, Maui and in Stone Harbor, NJ for a few months each year.
