Music
Item Description
Ellyn Rucker has a long career as a jazz pianist - performing and recording in Denver, at jazz festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe, and touring China. The mother of Kurt and Kristen, Ellyn is also a teacher and has plans to tour and play on trains across the U.S. She has been written about in seven jazz books, including Madame Jazz, and appeared on NPR. Ellyn says jazz is a layering of notes and sounds so her mask is celebration of notes, sounds and working parts of a piano. Ellyn is at one with her piano and the two hearts on her sleeves stand for the heart and soul in her music. Call is Blossoms of Music as she uses guts, nuts, bolts, hammers, keys, wire and the strings from her brother Ross' bass, the man she calls her muse.
