Lynne Cheney, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., has long emphasized the importance of knowing American history and teaching it well. She is the author and co-author of 11 books, including five New York Times bestsellers for children and their families. In her latest book, Blue Skies, No Fences: A Memoir of Childhood and Family, Mrs. Cheney writes of her childhood in Casper, Wyo. in the 1940s and '50s. Denver artist Kim Young created her mask depicting those years. She is married to Vice President Dick Cheney.
