They don't say a word and their faces are expressionless, yet there is never a doubt what their message is. With its unique fusion of music, technology and comedy, the Blue Man Group engages audience participation by doing such odd things as passing reams of paper and listening to tubes. Sitting in the front rows can be risky, though, as the often gooey props are as uncontained as the imaginations of the three caterers who began the group in the '80s. Bald heads, wide eyes, and black-clad bodies might make the individual members of the troupe interchangeable but, as a whole, the team is incomparable. Not surprisingly, the Blue Man Group's mask is...well...blue. The startling pink shading hints at the troupe's playful personality. Overall, the total effect might be as nondescript as the trio's, but it’s also just as delightful.
