Item Description
Four-star Gen. Wes Clark who served as NATO Supreme Allied Commander and ran for president in 2004, commissioned Arkansas artist Gay C. Bechtelheimer to paint his mask titled "The Face of the World." The mask represents a cultural prism held together with a constantly adjusting zipper. "Our hope is that this face always reflects the brightness of peace and change," says the artist. Gay teaches art at Northwest Environmental Studies Academy in Arkansas and studio classes at the South Arkansas Arts Center. Her work can be found in public installations and private collections throughout the South.
