Item Description

"How many Jewish girls do you know who have a tile cutter?" asks the woman who is as comfortable at a ladies' fundraising luncheon as she is wearing a welder's mask while using a blowtorch. In fourth grade, Ellen Beller picked up a paint brush and began a lifelong love affair with all things creative. Being a fundraiser and a breast cancer survivor has helped shape her art in the medium of fused glass. She uses glass because she says it reflects the image of those around it, and while fragile, glass becomes stronger as it is heated. She used vibrant colors on her mask to reflect and represent LIFE.
