Hunter Pence, in his first season in the Majors, he hit .322 (147x456) with 69 RBI, 30 doubles, nine triples and 17 home runs in 108 games...he also stole 11 bases and scored 57 runs...is the fourth Houston rookie to amass double-digit totals in home runs (17) and stolen bases (11)... his 17 home runs in 2007 were the 3rd-highest rookie total in club history...his 246 total bases are the most for an Astro rookie since Joe Morgan's 251 in 1965...led the NL in hitting at the All-Star Break (.342)...is the only rookie to lead either league in hitting at the Break since 1957, when classifications for rookies were established (Elias Sports Bureau)...set franchise rookie records in extra-base hits (56) and doubles (30)...both rookie records were previously held by Lance Berkman (2000) and Luis Gonzalez (1991)...69 RBI ranked tied for second among all Astros rookies, 13 behind first-place Jeff Bagwell (1991)...his .539 slugging percentage and .322 batting average ranks first among Houston rookies all-time...hit his 17th home run on Sept. 26...homered in consecutive games from Sept. 25-26...ranked among NL rookie leaders in: hitting (5th-.322), home runs (T6th-17), RBI (4th-69), hits (2nd-147), doubles (2nd-30), runs (5th-57), slugging (3rd-.539), multi-hit games (3rd-46) and on-base percentage (6th-.360)...led all MLB rookies in triples (9)...had four four-hit games (May 16 vs. SF, June 3 vs. STL, June 24 at TEX, July 1 vs. COL)...started 95 games in center field and 13 in right field...scratched from the lineup on Sept. 20 (strained upper back)...suffered the injury on Sept. 19 in the ninth inning after colliding with the right field wall at Minute Maid Park...remained in the game and hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning vs. MIL...hit .368 in 14 games as a leadoff hitter (21x57)...went 2x4 with two home runs and a career-high five RBI on Aug. 31 at CHI, his first career multi-home run game...missed 27 games from July 23-Aug. 21 with a right wrist capsular sprain with a small chip fracture...before being placed on the Disabled List, he led all MLB rookies in extra-base hits, doubles, triples, and total 2008 Houston Astros media guide 137 2008 ASTROS bases...also led all NL rookies in hits, RBI, and multi-hit games (31) while ranking second in hitting and slugging...hit his first career walk-off home run in the 13th inning on July 3 vs. PHI (3x6)...posted a season-long, nine-game hitting streak from July 1-13 in which he hit .391 (18x46)...homered in three consecutive games from July 2-4, tying the club rookie record...named NL Rookie of the Month for May (.343, 19 RBI, 16 extra-base hits, four HR, club-rookie record 37 hits) and NL Co-Player of the Week from May 14-20...had hits in seven consecutive at-bats from May 15-16, one shy of the club record...hit his first career home run, a grand slam on May 5 at STL...became the 14th player since 2000 to hit a grand slam for his first MLB home run...1x3 on April 28 in his Major League debut...hit by a pitch (Bush) in the fifth inning...recorded his first big league hit and scored his first run in the sixth inning...has hit safely in 86 of his 108 ML games...contract was purchased from Triple A Round Rock on April 27...hit .341 (29x85) with three home runs, 10 doubles and 19 RBI in 22 games for the Express...his 10 doubles ranked tied for second in the PCL when he was called up...also ranked tied for second in the league with 14 extra-base hits...hit safely in eight of his last nine games with the Express, including five multi-hit games in that span.
