Item Description
This fanciful teapot by Sy Schwartz shows some attitude while brewing your tea. Teapots are a challenging form to make, and Sy does it with skill and finesse. The glaze is food safe, and the teapot is fully functional. All proceeds from this auction will benefit the Solano College Ceramics Department.
Item Special Note
Sy Schwartz has been a student, teacher, and creator of ceramic art for nearly 20 years. Sy became interested in, and passionate about, ceramics while on a sabbatic leave from his academic job as professor of environmental science and policy at UC Davis. He has studied with nationally and internationally known ceramic artists at the Mendocino Art Center and Solano Community College, and has taught ceramics at the UC Davis Craft Center since 1993. He currently teaches an advanced class in wheelthrowing techniques. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Davis, Sacramento and Woodland for the past ten years. He also participates in the Pence Gallery’s annual Studio Artists’ Tour in Davis.
