Item Description
Tibetan amulet (or gau) container or prayer box, traditionally filled with blessed items or prayers and worn as jewelry. Finely-worked silver with brass and turquoise inlay. 4x4 inches; 1 inch high.
This precious piece is over 100 years old, purchased from an antique dealer in Dharmasala over 30 years ago. From the collection of Professor José Cabezón, the XIV Dalai Lama Chair in Tibetan Buddhism and Cultural Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
