Entertainment/Leisure
Item Description
The new cinema multiplexes are fine if you want to go see a new movie. But if you want to experience great music and entertainment in true comfort, you need to patronize one of the older movie palaces that we all remember from our youth.
One such place is the Strand Theater in Shelbyville, Indiana. Originally built in 1916, the Strand has been completely refurbished and is a beautiful example of turn of the century theaters.
On April 25, 2009 the Blue River Community Choir and the Dixie Kats will be performing in this beautiful theater.
The Blue River Community Choir, directed by Cindy Leahy, and the Dixie Kats Dixieland jazz band, directed by Kenny Bowman, will join to present a concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Strand Theatre, 215 S. Harrison St. All proceeds will benefit the continued efforts to remodel the Strand.
You will be bidding on six tickets to see this wonderful performance.
The Blue River Community Choir is an all-volunteer, nonprofit choir that performs at a variety of events throughout Shelby County. The Dixie Kats band is an offshoot of the Shelby Community Band that performs regularly throughout the Indianapolis area.
Item Special Note
Tickets may be picked up at the Roaring Twenties event on April 3 or through April 10 at the Hospital Foundation office at 720 N. Lincoln, Greensburg, IN. If required, buyer will pay handling and shipping costs
