Item Description
Immerse yourself in the world of Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of New England's favorite sons and author of The Scarlet Letter, among other famous works.
This package is sure to thrill the Hawthorne fan--or any fan of American history. It includes:
- Hardcover copy of his most famous romance, The Scarlet Letter (Everyman Edition)
- Three passes to the Old Manse in Concord, Mass., where Hawthorne declared to have lived the happiest years of his life. The historic house, built by Rev. Wililam Emerson (grandfather of the transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson), was occupied by Hawthorne and his wife, Sophia, for four years.
As you tour the Old Manse, consider the stories written there, the vegetable garden that was planted by Henry David Thoreau (for the Hawthornes) and different affectionate sentiments that the Hawthornes etched into the window panes of the study.
Item Special Note
2 Old Manse tickets are for the Tour of the House; 1 Old Manse ticket is for a Tour of House, Attic and Landscape.
