Mike Valentine is CEO and founder of Group Transportation Services (GTS), a third-party logistics company specializing in comprehensive one-stop shipping services, headquartered in Hudson, Ohio. In acknowledgment of the company's phenomenal growth since its inception, GTS has been named Weatherhead 100 company for the past six years.
As a for profit business startup, GTS was founded in 1995 in the basement of Valentine's home, where he learned the ins and outs of developing a viable business. As he continued to build a solid client base, he was able to move the business several times to accommodate expanded operations and employee growth before relocating the company to its current location in Hudson. A seasoned executive team now runs the day-to-day operations of the company, while Valentine focuses on opportunities for mergers and acquisitions.
At the same time Valentine started his new business, he lead a team of parent volunteers to found a non-profit entity. Originally operating from Valentine's living room, this team started the first independent Catholic elementary school in Ohio - Seton Catholic School. The team covered everything from developing the school's business plan and operational structure, to implementing fund raising activities to allow for the construction of the school's physical structure. Valentine now serves a founder and chairman emeritus of the school, which is located in Hudson.
