Sam E. Tidmore IV was born to Samuel the III and Ida Tidmore in Decatur Illinois earned. He is the grandson of an Alabama Baptist Preacher Dallas Finley, father to eleven children. He is also the grandson of Samuel Tidmore Jr. who was a former deacon at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church. His family roots are well planted in Olivet to include his 97 year old Uncle, Willie Finley.

Samuel Tidmore was educated in Cleveland Public Schools and at a very young age was declared dull normal by the Cleveland Public Schools. He was then sent to Thomas Edison Industrial School to learn a trade. Later he was transferred to a full academic school, Rawling Jr. High School. Rawling was one of the most violent schools in Cleveland, but young Sam survived and began to excel academically. He also attended East Tech High School for one day and after that one day; Sam used his aunt's address to quickly transfer to John Adams High School. At John Adams, Sam was introduced to a vigorous academics and a well organized sports program. Samuel Tidmore excelled in sports and his studies.
He was named the team's Most Valuable Player in his junior and senior year. He was captain of the football and basketball teams, and was the fastest runner on the track team.


Samuel Tidmore was awarded a scholarship to Ohio State while gaining All-State honors as an end (both offense and defense) at Cleveland's John Adams High School. Sam continued to play both offensive and defensive-end at Ohio State, and was a member of the 1961, undefeated National Championship Team. Tidmore also starred on the track team, earning letters as a sprinter and shot putter. He was converted to linebacker when the Browns made him their 3rd round draft choice in 1962. In the opening game of the 1963 season, a 37-14 won over the Washington Redskins at Cleveland Stadium, Sam suffered a torn cartilage in his knee and never fully recovered from his injury; he was then subsequently traded to Pittsburgh and retired from Professional Football.

After retiring, Tidmore returned to the Cleveland area where his educational roots began and became an investment banker on the New York Stock exchange. Then he went on to become Congressional Louis Stoke's - Chief of Staff. After that he entered a different venture and bought a McDonalds Restaurant Franchise with partners. Samuel soon after, bought a Burger King Restaurant, then opened a second store and changed ventures in 1990.
Samuel was the first African- American to own a COORS Distribution House in St. Louis. Samuel Tidmore also served as the National President of Rainbow Push Coalition when Reverend Jesse Jackson ran for United States President. After supervising The Operation Push and its host of ministers, Sam decided he had a call upon his life. He enrolled in a Methodist Seminary and later transferred to Ashland Theological Seminary.

Sam had a dream of connecting the Church Community and bringing technology to the Church. He started an internet portal called "Raising the Village" he then sought out and gained a cable television station. The Village Television Company made its debut via the Adelphia Cable System (Channel 20) on December 9, 2003, and reaches 522,000 homes throughout Northeastern Ohio. Supported by 90 minority churches, the station draws on its extraordinary cultural and grassroots foundation to create programming that strives to make a meaningful human connection by providing daily news, entertainment, sports, financial, business reports, education, shopping, meditation, religious study, church news, health improvement methods and chat room opportunities. As of July 2008, Village Television can now be accessed on (Channel 218) Time Warner Cable- "Your Diversity Station".
