Item Description

The Youth Advisory Council at Fenton Intermediate decided that the community needed some help when it comes to going green.  Thankfully, Greenie the Superhero showed up at our school!

Greenie was born in a small pond just outside of Fenton, Michigan.  As a tadpole, Greenie was teased by other tadpoles for caring about the state of his pond.  Garbage was thrown into the pond from careless drivers and visitors to the pond.  Greenie was upset to see people who lived near the pond throwing plastic bottles and other recyclable materials away with their regular trash.  He knew something had to be done!

On a day where there was an excessive amount of garbage in his environment, Greenie shouted, “THAT’S IT!” He plucked a lily pad and tied it around his neck like a cape.  He used a piece of a plastic pop can holder (which was so rudely disposed of in his pond) and made them into goggles. That day, Greenie became a superhero.

Greenie may be small, but he has big ideas!  Along with the students at FIS, Greenie has been working to teach the community about ways to protect our environment and reduce waste.  With a face as cute as his, the communityhas had a hard time resisting!  Greenie the Superhero has helped people remember to reduce waste by reusing or recycling items around your house.  He is very good as scoping out recycled materials (We think it may because of his X ray superhero goggles).

In his spare time, Greenie the Superhero loves to do things all frogs do.  He can be seen swimming in his home town pond (which is now much cleaner),eating flies, or just plain relaxing.  But when it is time to protect the environment, Greenie the Superhero is always ready to put on his outfit and save the Earth.

Go Greenie!
